The Disney Classic

Just a discussion question today...  What is it with a TG's attraction to the classic Disney Princess?  They come in many shapes and forms, but at some point they all end up in a ball gown (except Mulan, who wore a Kimono and Pocahantes, but she had other things going for her).  So why is a princess so attractive to TG fantasy?

  1. I'm not sure if I'd really want to be a princess, but this is about fantasy, right? So why not live it up? Being the center of attention with money, clothes, servants, people fighting for you and over you? Beats fantasizing about being the checkout girl at Target.

The Disney princesses are a different story. I think their appeal has very little to do with their royal status and more with the fact that they are very well fleshed-out characters, often (especially the newer ones) independant, spunky, intelligent women. Oh, and they're hot.

  2. So why is a princess so attractive to TG fantasy?

Culturally, they've been associated with girls and girls' things. Plus the princesses themselves express a certain style of hyper-femininity is alluring and desirous to many young (and not-so-young) trans* folks.

Plus, as Maddie says, they're hot. ♥
